The client, the Ebenezer Management Services plans to expand their business in the area of Edina Minnesota to build a three-story, up to 45,000 square feet, an independent senior living facility with the respite care service. There was a series of specific comprehensive assessments of the facility that needed to be addressed, which conducted on ADA standards, universal design, the needs of the aging population, and the public health and well-being of both residents and employees.
Concept - Mobius Strip
As a well-known double paradox, the Mobius strip challenges the prejudices of common sense and intuition from people. The designer developed the concept of the Mobius strip into the design of the senior living space in order to eliminate general negative stereotypes about elderly persons and senior living facilities, and corporate the concept of aging-in-place. The design will take advantage of showing the power of space, design of harmony, and truth to materials within the design space
