Project description
Brand: Y's by Yohji Yamamoto
Site: Kashiyama Daikanyama in Tokyo, Japan

The project involves the individual exploration of a fashion brand. The designer is asked to use computer knowledge and skills to design a pop-up retail store for a brand integrated with space, use space to tell the brand story, and create a place for customers of mental and physical experiences. The conceptual and schematic phases will be highlighted through 3D modeling and drawings which will help the designer to create spaces that meet user needs and create spaces for the special brand designer to choose.
Concept - MA (間)
1: In the Japanese, ‘Ma’ is described as a pause in time, an interval, or emptiness in space.
2: Ma is the fundamental time and space life needs to enable growth, spark creativity, permitting freedom.
'Ma' is defined as the design of minimal, balanced, and humble in the retail space. The retail space takes advantage of the monochromatic color palette, visual progression, and fluid space setting in order to define the sense of spatial and airy in Yohji Yamamoto's design.
